PRs I’ve opened on repos I didn’t write: two big open-source projects and two team projects. Statuses are spelled out, and nothing’s rounded up.

Open-source projects

Big public codebases where maintainers decide what gets merged.

  • PrefectHQ/prefect (2)

Python workflow orchestration for resilient data pipelines · ~24k stars

    1. Merged#22915merged fix(ui-v2): carry rounded-up seconds into larger units

Fixed impossible durations like “4m 60s” in Prefect’s new React UI: the total is rounded once and every unit is derived from it, with Vitest tests for each boundary.

Opened and merged the same day, approved by a Prefect maintainer.

    2. Open#23044opened Warn when a task run outlives its timeout

Logs a warning when a task keeps running past its timeout_seconds because a blocking call can’t be interrupted, so users find out right away instead of hours later.

One shared watchdog thread, 12 tests and a docs note. It reports the overrun; it doesn’t stop it. Waiting on maintainer review.

  • dagster-io/dagster (2)

Orchestration platform for data assets and pipelines in Python · ~16k stars

    1. Open#34072opened Resolve parameterized generic annotations to an unchecked DagsterType

Assets typed with generics like pandera’s DataFrame[MySchema] crash at import. With this PR, they load as an “unchecked” type that keeps the readable name.

A smaller, core-only rewrite of #33016 after maintainer feedback. Both target issue #22694 (open since 2024, 23 upvotes).

    2. Closed#33016closed Support Generic Type Hints

First attempt at generic type hints: a registry of per-library type resolvers plus a built-in Pandera/Polars resolver. Built with two teammates.

Via CodeDay Labs / CTI. Closed without merging. The maintainer called it “probably the only sound way to solve the problem” but declined over complexity and maintenance cost. Continued in #34072.

Team projects

Team repos where I built a piece of the app.

  • ItaiHammer/likehome (1)

Team-built hotel and home-stay booking app

    1. Open#37opened Homepage + design

Designed and built the front end: homepage with search, a destinations carousel and stay cards, reservation pages, dark mode, and a shared component library for the team.

Team project. The PR is open and not merged into the app yet.

  • EricksonNg/SimStation (1)

Team-built Java Swing framework for agent-based simulations

    1. Merged#3merged adjust mvc, fixed model & agent linkage, command classes added

Built the threaded agent lifecycle (start, stop, pause, resume), linked agents to their world, and added the command classes and a Random Walk demo.

Team project. The owner reverted this merge, then re-applied it in #5.
